Killin is a rural village at the Falls of Dochart, a spectacular series of rapids, at the western end of Loch Tay, one of Scotlands finest in the Trossachs National Park. At this point is the Seat of Clan MacNab, and nearby is Auchessan, the cottage which supposedly belonged to Rob Roy MacGregor.
More recently, the bridge over the River Dochart at Killin was the centre of the 1959 movie The Thirty Nine Steps. This area is a magnet for the adventurer and nature spotters, hill walking and water sports and fishing at its finest, with an abundance of wild life on show.
Killin has everything necessary to support the local community and the tourists. With Stirling and Perth a short drive away.

Facilities in the village include a Medical Practice, Pharmacy, Bank, Post Office, Dental practice, various shops, hotels, and cafes. There is a primary school at Killin with secondary schooling in Callander which transport is provided by a school bus, also numerous private schooling.
